Working with Gad Shaanan Designs, we developed hardware and firmware for two ‘new technology’ coffee machines. The machines, commercial and home based units, automatically make a single cup of high quality coffee. We also provided a software package that allowed a service technician to modify the control sequence of the commercial unit using intuitive timing diagrams without recompiling application code. This allowed the end user to optimize the use of consumables, quality of product, and time to brew a cup. Both units are based on Motorola MC68HC11K1 microcomputers.
