Working with Lynx System Developers, we developed a portable/wearable multiple protocol controller. The device employs a Hitachi H8/3067 microcomputer, a Intersil Prism II radio (in PCMCIA type II form factor), and a Standard Microsystems LAN91C96 MAC to implement a protocol converter that allows RS232/485, wired 10-Base T Ethernet and wireless Ethernet (802.11b protocol) data to be transparently redirected. The device allows a serial data stream to be shared effortlessly over an entire Ethernet network. We supplied the hardware design, mechanical design and transfer to the contract manufacturer. Lynx engineers supplied the firmware.
